WELCOME
Welcome to Ben Derbyshire GK, a goalkeeping academy based in Peterborough and surrounding areas. Historically goalkeepers have been somewhat of a neglected species when it comes to training. At Ben Derbyshire GK we provide specialised, goalkeeper specific training and coaching with the aim of helping all our goalkeepers reach their full potential from grassroots football to the professional game.
We offer a variety of session types, meaning we can cater to all abilities and training preferences and tailor sessions to maximise their benefit. We are the only FA approved provider of goalkeeper coaching in the area, having recently obtained the approved provider accreditation from the Hunts FA. That means that when you attend any of our sessions you can rest assured that you or your child are receiving top quality coaching from coaches that have up to date qualifications, certificates and insurances.
With over 1000 goalkeepers spread over the Peterborough, Cambridge and South Lincolnshire areas having benefited from Head Coach, Ben Derbyshire’s 15 years coaching experience, BDGK is the premier goalkeeping coaching specialist for all enthusiastic and eager keepers.

My son Oliver (age 10) had his first sessions with Ben this year and he has absolutely loved every single one of them. If he could go everyday he would! Ben works incredibly hard with all the goalkeepers he has, constantly giving words of encouragement and pushes each and every player on to be the best they can be. I have really noticed a difference in my son's skills as a goalkeeper and his confidence thanks to Ben and I will 100% be signing up for the next block of sessions.

August 11, 2024Charlie has been involved with Ben since the back end of the 21/22 season and has gone from strength to strength in the 22-23 season. Harry got involved at the start of 22-23 and the confidence he has gained for a 6 year old is tremendous. Ben delivers great sessions wether that be 1-1 or as a group. Seeing both boys take into games what Ben teaches them is brilliant to see. #teamBDGK

Ben’s sessions are well organised and full of content aimed to challenge Harry but also he has so much fun. Since having sessions with Ben he is so much more confident and understands techniques now, which he uses in his Under 9 games. Other parents have commented on how much Harry has improved in this time too. Thank you Ben for putting so much into your sessions- your enthusiasm and praise makes such a difference to him.

March 27, 2021Ben has coached me since around the age of 6 and has had a massive impact in my development as a goalkeeper in the last 10 years. His sessions work on specific aspects needed for the individual and keeping it as game specific as possible. I would highly recommend him if you’re looking to develop your ability as a goalkeeper or simply looking for a session.

November 6, 2020Ben is a great goal keeping coach, you can see the passion and enthusiasm he has for the game in his coaching, Reece loves his sessions with Ben, they are tailor made to suit the goal keepers needs and help focus on the individuals areas of improvement. Feedback is given in a timely manner and age appropriate with lots of positive praise, Reece loves the challenges Ben gives him and loves trying to save the goals Ben tries to make. Reece takes what Ben teaches him and applies it in matches, he also loves teaching others the skills he has learnt in his weekly sessions with Ben. Reece likes to watch the videos that are Ben posts of his sessions and is able to understand and apply what is being taught better. It’s a pleasure to watch Reece at goal keeper training.
